Bearing the adorable common name of the Teddy Bear Vine, Cyanotis beddomei is a creeping succulent-like plant with stems covered with soft brownish hair and fleshy, lance-shaped, olive green leaves, red beneath and felted with white hairs. The common name could have been derived from the association of the plant's appearance with the iconic soft, furry brown bear. The leaves are arranged in 2 files along the stem and are about 1 cm long and mostly covers the stem. The plant produces flowers that are pinkish-purple and appear in clusters, making it a rather cute plant to own in your collection!
Light: Place the plant in a well-ventilated area whereby it can receive at least 4-6 hours of bright sunlight daily.
Water: Once or twice a week, water the plants thoroughly till excess water drains out of the pot.
Temperature: Plant tolerates temperatures from 18-28°C.
Fertilizer: An all-purpose, water-soluble balanced fertilizer that contains an equal amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (e.g. N-P-K: 15-15-15 +TE) will help to boost the plant's overall health by feeding it every two weeks. Otherwise, a slow-release fertilizer (e.g. Osmocote) can be incorporated into the potting media, and to be replenished after about 2-3 months. Do follow the recommended dosage indicated on the fertilizer’s application instructions.
