
Tender Loving Care Advice for Stephania erecta in ceramic pot
A very unusual caudex plant, with a stem swollen like a round ball. Sprouts in spring in a nice fine vine with round leaves and yellowish flowers. Prefers moderate water and filtered light. Can be grown as a unique bonsai plant on your desktop or window sill. The plant will go into dormancy after one growing cycle. It will sprout again after re-planting.
Growing Conditions
Light: It prefers locations with a lot of sun. If grown indoor, fluorescent grow lights would be required.
Water: Watering from bottom is preferred but shake off excess water after sitting in water. Ensure soil is kept moist but not damp.
Soil: It prefers high quality peat based and well drained loose media.
Fertilizer: Feed the plant every month 1-2 times with small amount of controlled- release fertilizer.
Pests & diseases: Common pests include aphids, mealybug and mites.
Others: Trim of branches and long wines may be required at times to promote new growth and let the plant stay healthy and under control.
Common problems : Aphids, root rot and leaf spot - Remove plants from their pots immediately if they show signs of root rot or leaf spot.
