Tender Loving Care Advice for Peperomia Burgundy in ceramic pot :

“Schumi Red “ and “Burgundy” are two outstanding hybrids of Peperomia Caperata. They are lovely small plants with thick ripple leaves of ruby-purple black coloured leaves, red to purple stems and interesting rat tail shaped flowers. This plant has the added benefit of air purification. ASPCA and other sources list plants from the Peperomia genus (including Peperomia caperata) as non-toxic to cats and dogs.

Growing Conditions

Light: It prefers medium to bright light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight that can scorch its foliage.

Water: Allow the plants to dry between waterings. They are highly sensitive to overwatering. Avoid watering the crown. Light misting/sitting the base substrate in water for short duration once/week would be sufficient.

Soil: It prefers moist, very well drained potting soil with high content of perlites, loose & loamy peat.

Fertilizer: Feed the plants every 1-2 months with small amount of controlled-release fertilizer, Nitrocote or Organic-pellets.

Pests & diseases: No known serious pests or diseases though prone to red spider mites and mealy bugs. Regular check is required on foliage to avoid infestation of pests.

Others: Yellowing and dropping of leaves are usually due to poor lighting and over-watering.
