Monstera deliciosa is an easy to-grow climbing evergreen indoor plant and a favorite of many interior designers. It is also known as Swiss Cheese due to its large, glossy perforated leaves that can grow up to 1 meter long. Hence, it is advisable to provide the plant with moss-covered support sticks or a trellis. Ripe fruits of this plants are edible, but the leaves may cause allergies and skin irritation to some people. This plant is toxic to cats and dogs.
Growing Conditions
Light: It prefers bright filtered light. Shield away from mid-day direct sun as it may burn the young leaves.
Water: The plant requires lots of humidity and regular watering. Make sure the soil is dry on top before re-watering.
Soil: It prefers slightly acidic, rich loamy soil with good drainage.
Fertilizer: The plants required routine monthly liquid fertilizer for good growth.
Others: These plants do not do well under cold, frosty temperatures. Wiping dust or debris with a damp sponge or paper towel will keep the plant clean and avoidant of pests.
