Sinningia is a member of the Gesneriad family and is a tuberous herbaceous perennials, occurring in parts of Central and South America. This particular Sinningia hybrid is made up of three species- Sinningia leucotricha, Sinningia cardinalis and Sinningia iarae. It has hairy leaves that are soft to touch and attractive tall spikes of orange tubular flowers.
Light: Place the plant in a well-ventilated area whereby it can receive around 4 hours of filtered, indirect sunlight daily.
Water: Once or twice a day, water the plants thoroughly till excess water drains out of the pot. Humidity is needed for it to thrive. Do not wet the foliages to reduce the risk of rotting or diseases. Best to shelter it from the rain.
Temperature: Plant tolerates temperatures between 16-28°C.
Fertilizer: An all-purpose, water-soluble balanced fertilizer that contains equal amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (e.g. N-P-K: 15-15-15 +TE) will help to boost plant's overall health by feeding it every two weeks. Otherwise, a slow-release fertilizer (e.g. Osmocote) can be incorporated into the potting media, and to be replenished after about 2-3 months. Do follow the recommended dosage indicated on the fertilizer’s application instructions.
