Impatiens mirabilis is an unusual herbaceous species from Thailand with a hard and rock-like, swollen stem-base (caudex). Mature sized plants can grow up to 3m tall with a large caudex of 60cm in diameter. Its flowers are a combination of cream and pink in colour. Given the right conditions, this plant is easy to be taken care of and can be long-lived.

Light: Place the plant in a well-ventilated area whereby it can receive around 6 hours of bright but indirect sunlight daily.

Water: Being drought-tolerant, this plant that can tolerate dryness and survive with minimal watering. However, it grows best if the soil is kept slightly moist and to be watered once a day till excess water drains out of the pot.

Temperature: Plant tolerates temperature between 18-30°C.

Fertilizer: An all-purpose, water-soluble balanced fertilizer that contains equal amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (e.g. N-P-K: 15-15-15 +TE) will help to boost plant's overall health by feeding it every two weeks. Otherwise, a slow-release fertilizer (e.g. Osmocote) can be incorporated into the potting media, and to be replenished after about 2-3 months. Do follow the recommended dosage indicated on the fertilizer’s application instructions.
