Episcia 'Cleopatra', is a perennial, herbaceous shrub characterized by its stoloniferous habit. Its velvety leaves have a pale green mid-section shaped like an oak leaf, outlined by a thin white halo with light pink margins. Blooms are trumpet-shaped in shades of bright red. It loves fluorescent lights and hence, makes an exceptional indoor plant. Otherwise, they are also ideal as hanging plants.

Episcia have to be watered regularly and do not like to dry out completely. Check to ensure that the potting substrate is kept moist but not wet. They require high humidity to thrive. Remove the unwanted stolons (and propagate!) so that the main plant gets to quickly mature. Best that the plant is grown under bright, indirect light for at least 8 hours a day.

Light: Place the plant in a well-ventilated area whereby it can receive more than 6 hours of bright (preferably indirect) sunlight daily.

Water: Once or twice a day, water the plants thoroughly till excess water drains out of the pot. Do not allow the potting substrate to dry out completely.

Temperature: Plant tolerates temperatures from 26-32°C.

Fertilizer: An all-purpose, water-soluble balanced fertilizer that contains equal amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (e.g. N-P-K: 15-15-15 +TE) will help to boost plant's overall health by feeding it every two weeks. Otherwise, a slow-release fertilizer (e.g. Osmocote) can be incorporated into the potting media, and to be replenished after about 2-3 months. Do follow the recommended dosage indicated on the fertilizer’s application instructions.
