
Tender Loving Care Advice for Caladium Red Star in ceramic pot:
Showy houseplants that are heat-loving tropical perennials. The Caladium Red Star comes with striking pinks that are mottled green foliage. Though it is grown mainly for their foliage, it does produce some flowers, which start in the form of spathes or spikes.
Growing Conditions
Light: It can adapt to partial shade and indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves.
Water: Water the plants when the soil starts drying out. Keep soil moist but not wet.
Soil: It prefers high quality peat sandy based and well drained loose media.
Fertilizer: Feed the plants every month with small amount of controlled-release fertilizer or all-purpose fertilizer.
Pests & diseases: Common pests include aphids, mealybug and mites.
Others: It is common for foliage to last a few months and the leaves start to die back when the plant goes into dormant stage. The hidden tubers may sprout gain after the dormancy ended. All Caladium are harmful if eaten or cause irritancy to eye and skin if contacted.
